Debray dress D.2101 | PDF Sewing Pattern
SKILL LEVEL: Intermediate
DESCRIPTION: The boxy Debray tuck dress has multiple tuck features at the front and raw-edge bias bands on the neckline and sleeve edges. The dress has a wide hem, side seam pockets and a tie at the waist to adjust the fit and silhouette of the garment. The silhouette of this garment is loose and comfortable for high summer, with the wide armholes easily allowing the dress to be layered with a long sleeve top underneath for cooler days making it versatile over several seasons. The garment on the cover and included in the instruction booklet has been made in a linen/cotton blend fabric.
ALTERATIONS TO THE PATTERN: This garment can be shortened and worn as a top, or shorter style dress. To make the top – eliminate the pockets and use a narrower hem finish. Purchase fabric once you have adjusted the length to your personal preference.
NOTIONS:
✁Matching and/or contrasting sewing thread.
✁Loop turner for the ties.
SEAM ALLOWANCES AND FABRIC EDGE FINISHING: Main seam allowances are 1.2cm, the armhole and neck edge feature a bias bind band and frayed edges, and the hem width is 11cm. Some seams in this garment will require you to trim off the excess fabric. To finish the edges of your fabric you can use an overlocker (3 thread), zig-zag or suggested finishing stitch that is available on your machine. *For advanced sewers, binding seams are an alternative option.
FABRICS: Cotton, linen, chambray, silk or stable light to mid-weight woven fabrics. For more advanced makers, this style could be sewn in a stretch jersey or knitted fabric.
